There are also mass flow meters which are capable of utilizing technologies which also measure the mass of flow (W) in the flowing stream. Some examples of mass flow meters include Coriolis mass and thermal flow meters.
The inferential flow meters will not measure the volume, velocity, and mass, however it measures the flow by its value from the other measured parameters. Few examples for flow meter technology are differential pressure, target, and variable area flow meters.
The flow computers are used for providing extra flow meters for actual process functions, like pressure, temperature, viscosity, composition in flow meter, vortex shedding flow meter, oil flow meter.
Flow meter technologies are capable of measuring the liquid flow from an open channel, while insertion flow meters measure the flow from one location in the pipe. It is also capable of using measurement systems for flow computers for compensating the hydraulic effects.
